Dealing with Stress

Stress is often seen as a negative factor in everyday life.

However, all organisms require a certain level of challenge (stress) in their daily life to present the opportunity to solve problems, experience the satisfaction of resolving difficulties, or take on new ventures.

Life presents many challenges throughout an individual’s life cycle. These can include difficulties with partners, other significant others in the family, or work related problems. When these challenges exceed an individual’s ability to feel in control of the situation or develop new ways of coping, then stress can have  negative effect on mental and physical health and wellbeing.

If we can learn how to reduce and/or manage life stress, we can improve our wellbeing overall.
